Samskip and professional hockey player join forces to inspire the children

7.6.2016

On 1st, June 2016 Samskip organised a hockey clinic at Feyenoord hockey club for the children of the Rotterdam branch of the IMC Weekendschool.

Former Samskip intern, Hidde Turkstra, is now part of the Dutch national side. We were delighted that he volunteered to take time out from his Olympic training schedule to introduce the children to hockey.

From 2015, Samskip has been sponsoring the IMC Weekendschool, an organisation which invites passionate professionals to inspire children aged 10 to 14 from underprivileged backgrounds to broaden their career horizons. Samskip is proud to be associated with an initiative that gives these children a new perspective, helping them to acquire self-confidence and a sense of connection with Dutch society. We're also delighted to introduce ourselves as a company recognising the value of team play.

On the day, after a short introduction to Samskip and an overview of Hidde's career so far, the children were invited onto the hockey field for a 1.5-hour ‘hockey clinic'.

Afterwards, following some drinks, snacks, a goodie bag and a group photo with Hidde, the children left the club in cheerful mood, and with a new insight into one of the nation's most popular team sports.

Read the interview with Hidde Turkstra here.

We would like to thank everyone involved for making this happen!
