To continue our support in navigating through the EU ETS charges implemented by the EU since last year, we would like to share the following updates.

This year, we saw the implementation of the first phase of the EU ETS based on inclusion of 40% of CO2 emissions.  As previously communicated, phase 2 is scheduled to begin as of January 2025 which will include an increased 70% coverage of emissions, to be followed by 100% coverage of emissions as of January 2026.

Based on Samskip’s published October ETS levels, the table below illustrates a sample of freight movements and the impact of respective charges per unit.

We will announce the new ETS levels for January 2025, based on 70% emissions coverage, in mid-December 2024.
