In the Spotlight: the Italian connection
In this edition of our newsletter we will shine a light on the well proven and truly multimodal service between Samskip's main short sea destinations and the Italian corridor. By combining frequent short sea sailings with daily train services Samskip is able to offer a cost efficient and environmentally friendly transport solution to and from Italy. Read on for some of the latest news on our Italian service and get to know the faces behind the “Italian” voices.
About Samskip's Italian connection
Around 15 years ago Samskip was one of the first short sea operators offering services to and from Italy. Nowadays over 50 weekly train departures connect terminals in Novara, Brescia, Pomezia, Busto (Milano), Padova and Bologna with the port of Rotterdam. Thanks to the location of the rail and short sea terminals in Rotterdam, smooth connections can be made with the Samskip services to and from the United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Sweden, Benelux, Iceland, the Baltic States and Russia.
Offering more than the standard
Samskip offers a wide range of equipment ranging from dry boxes of 20ft, 40ft and 45ft. Customers which require side loading can be served with our 45ft curtainsided containers. Finally, Flatrack equipment is available for all customers that require top loading and have out-of gauge cargo.
Going Multimodal
Samskip strongly believes that the multimodal transport solutions hold many potential for the future. By seamlessly combining road, rail and short sea services, Samskip is able to offer a flexible and cost effective transport solution that will enhance the customers supply chain.
