Samskip flatracks: Size doesn't matter
Over-length, over-height and over-width cargo, it really doesn’;t matter. Thanks to flatrack equipment, not only your containerized cargo but also non-standard and project cargo can benefit from the advantages of the equipment type across our European Multimodal network. Samskip has many years of experience in non-standard and project cargo using 20ft and 40ft flatracks. Now we have upgraded our fleet with the introduction of 45ft flatrack equipment which takes Samskip one step further ahead of its competitors.
New 45 ft flatrack prototype
Following years of intensive development and research, Samskip is currently trialling two cutting edge 45ft folding-end flats with selected customers. Initial results gained from these trials have been positive.

Many advantages and possibilities
Flatracks are ideal to transport over-length, over-width and over-height cargo. The Flatrack has lashing equipment, plastic and tarpaulins to cover the cargo. The equipment can be loaded from the top, end and the side, with the maximum cargo weights as per country regulations. Thanks to the loading advantages the equipment is also frequently used for in gauge cargo that requires special loading possibilities. Next to these loading advantages, flatracks can also be collapsed, stacked per five and transported as one unit. This saves empty repositioning and mileage, making sure the best prices and environmental advantages can be offered.
Non-standard cargo
Whatever size cargo you think of, it can be moved by flatracks. To give an idea we listed some of the many types of cargo that can be transported by Flatrack equipment
* Steel (pipes, rails, coils, bars)
* Machinery (packed, unpacked)
* Timber (sawn, logs, sleepers)
* Stone (bricks, slates, slabs)
* Vehicles (cars, chassis and fork-lifts)
* Waste (under licence only!)
* Project cargo (windmills, yachts, water tanks, silo's, power stations, finished concrete and much more)
