Europe's leading multimodal container operator Samskip has appointed a new local agent in Portugal. In addition Samskip will improve its services to and from Portugal. With the increasing volumes on the existing Samskip services to and from this area, Samskip felt it appropriate to review the set up in Portugal.

Mega Containers going Multimodal

Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics is proud to offer its customers the first Mega Containers. The Samskip Mega Containers are tested and available on the Italian Route. The Mega boxes offer additional height and create interesting opportunities for shippers with low weight cargo or cargo with bigger dimensions. In some cases the additional height makes it possible to ship up to 30% additional cargo in one container.

Samskip introduces "Emission Calculation Model"

On the initiative of Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics, the Technical University in Delft (NL) has developed a model which can be used to objectively calculate differences in the environmental impact of transport solutions. In the last year Samskip has already been using the model to calculate the emmisions for many of its customers.
