Maritime security
Fee because of laws on maritime security
In keeping with Act no. 50/2004 regarding maritime security, and the ISPS Code of the SOLAS convention, Samskip has decided to implement a security fee to meet the company’s added expenses relating to vessel and harbor security. The security fee is added to imports and exports to and from Iceland.
This security fee’s purpose is to cover the significant investment and additional operating costs that Samskip will be required to undertake because of these laws.
Harbors and harbor associations will be responsible for applying the fee because of the cargo security aspect of the laws.
