Samskip at Multimodal 2010
For the third consecutive year, Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics participated at the Multimodal show at the Birmingham NEC from the 26th till the 28th of April 2010.
The hype for this third annual show was that it was going to be the best show so far--and it was for Samskip. This year we included an added attraction of a Formula 1 simulator at our stand (not saying that our account managers have not been previously) . We needed to increase the percentage of visits to the stand as previous years' attendance were disappointing and our last-minute decision to include the simulator definitely proved to be the right "formula." We increased our visit ratio by 300% and the Handy Shipping Guide published an article regarding the Multimodal Show stating that Samskip's stand was by far the best attraction. There was a general increase in attractions which included a full-sized train locomotive on rail tracks, various other full-sized trailers and "page 3" girls wearing short skirts and cowboy boots making the competition for attendees' attention fierce. In addition to our stand attraction, guest speakers at the show included our own COO, Peder Winther, who delighted the crowd by participating in a group panel discussion on port-centric distribution.
Amanda Brennan, Sales Director UK: 'We made some very interesting contacts and can conclude that it was well worth the hard work including, on my part, standing in 3 1/2" heels for 3 days!'
