Silver Sea adds two new reefer vessels from Eimskip to the fleet
The vessels are built in Norway 2007 by Myklebust Verft As and are 82 meters long and 16 meters vide. They are specially designed to sail in ice and harsh waters. The vessels will mainly be employed in Norway, Iceland, Shetland Islands and Faroe Islands to Baltic, Russia and other European ports. The cargo is primarily frozen seafood. The vessels are taken on bareboat agreements with purchase options at later stages.
Silver Sea was founded 2000 by Tormod Fossmark who has been the Managing Director from the beginning. Samskip acquired 40% stake in the company 2002 and additional 10% in 2005 now holding 50% shares of the company, Tormod Fossmark holding remaining 50% stake in the company.
Silver Sea has grown rapidly over the years presently operating 14 reefer vessels. It is a major player in the reefer transport market in the North Atlantic.
