Samskip backs singer Lay Low's international career

Samskip is backing Icelandic singer Lay Low over the next two years. The breakout musician, who has been enjoying growing popularity in Iceland and abroad, won three awards at the prestigious Icelandic Music Awards earlier this year.

Samskip announced its support of Lay Low, whose real name is Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir, at an employee get-together last weekend where the rising star and a backup band entertained. CEO Ásbjörn Gíslason used the opportunity to announce Samskip’s two-year plan to assist Lay Low’s move up the ladder of success both at home and on the international stage.

“Together we will succeed because we have gained extensive experience in expanding into global markets, and we understand the importance of having people that one can count on,” says Ásbjörn.

Samskip’s support will certainly come in handy for Lovísa, who will be doing much travelling over the coming months. Her first USA tour is scheduled for 27 May to 9 June, where she will be singing in Los Angeles and New York. This week she will be appearing at The Great Escape in Brighton concert in England. In September she will appear at the Popkomm Festival in Berlin, then travel to New York in October before returning to Britain in November for a planned week-long tour.
