Samskip Reefer Logistics appoints
Container Transport Solutions as its representative in Panama
Samskip Reefer Logistics has appointed Container Transport Solutions Inc to be its representative in Central America with the main focus being initially on Panama and Costa Rica.
According to Peder Winther, CEO of Samskip Reefer Logistics, the initial focus will be on the export of fruit from Panama but he believes the Central American region offers much more:
"While we will start with fruit exports from Panama to Rotterdam, including melons and pineapples, we expect to cover additional European destinations in due course. Also Container Transport Solutions believes there are possibilities for the export of fish products from Panama and the import of European products including cheese. Together, we are also looking at other fruit-producing countries in Central America as additional sources of business."
Container Transport Solutions is headed by Poul Bastrup, a Dane who has lived in Panama for the past 30 years. Prior to establishing his own company in 2006, Mr Bastrup had opened in 1999 and subsequently run P&O Nedlloyd’s Panamanian office.
Samskip is already operational in Latin America, having established offices in Brazil earlier in 2006.
