21.4.2006

Samskip has opened a new office in Seoul, South Korea. The new office is Samskip´s fifth in Asia, with the company already operating offices in Pusan in South Korea, Dalian and Qingdao in China and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Samskip now has 56 offices in 22 countries around the world.

The Seoul office´s main fields of activity will involve forwarding and reefer logistics.  ¿Transport of frozen and chilled goods to and from Asia has increased substantially in recent years and we have experienced the increase here at Samskip.  Our operations in Asia have gone very well and by opening the Seoul office we can further improve services to our valued customers,¿ says Einar Thor Gudjonsson, vice president of reefer logistics.  The opening of the new office demonstrates Samskip´s continued expansion in the high growth area of Eastern Asia and the company´s commitment to serving the interests of its customers.

Young-Hak Kim has been appointed director of the new office.  He has considerable experience of the transport and logistics sector in Asia, having previously filled a variety of roles in the region with P&O Swire.  Mr Kim will report to Samskip¿s regional head office in Pusan.
