Samskip opens office in Vigo, Spain
Samskip is opening an office in Vigo on the west coast of Spain at the New Year. Its main fields of activity will involve diverse fish products, both chilled and frozen.
"The new office in Vigo is the latest move to strengthen and improve Samskip¿s reefer services, following a major step in this direction last spring with the purchase of coldstore terminals from the Dutch Kloosterboer Group. In addition, we are looking at other interesting opportunities on the reefer market, for example on the west coast of the USA and South America," says Ásbjörn Gíslason, president of Samskip.
Dutchman Rainier Wolsleger, who has worked for Samskip in Rotterdam for several years, is moving to Spain to manage the new office.
With the Vigo office, Samskip now operates 62 offices in 22 countries. The company employs about 1400, who are equally distributed between Iceland and other countries. Turnover for the year is projected at about 60 billion ISK.
