Changes to Samskip's Sailing Schedules
The following changes will be made to Samskip's sailing schedules from January 1st 2005. The vessels MV Arnarfell and MV Helgafell will call at Halmstad in Sweden instead of Varberg, which has been the calling port up until now. All cargo to and from Norway and Sweden will in the future be through the port of Halmstad, in accordance with the new sailing schedule. In line with these changes, the receipt of cargo from Norway will be in Oslo instead of Moss. Vessels will call at Halmstad port every Thursday.
In the new sailing schedule, Aarhus in Denmark will be the last port of call on the European mainland before sailing to Iceland. En route, vessels will make one port of call at Thorshavn in the Faroe Islands.
Departure from Aarhus will be on Fridays and not Thursdays, as is now the case.
These changes are made so as to further improve the service for Icelandic and Faroese importers. The transit time from Aarhus to Reykjavik will be considerably shortened. Aarhus is one of the major ports for loading and shipping of goods to Iceland.
