Icelandic ISPS first for Samskip vessels

The Samskip container liners Arnarfell and Helgafell have become the first Icelandic vessels to receive an international ship security certificate issued under the provisions of the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facilities (ISPS Code).

The certification was issued in the Isle of Man, the vessels¿ port of registration. Issued under the auspices of the International Maritime Organisation as part of on-going global efforts against international terrorism, it will become compulsory for all vessels operating in international waters as of July 1.
